Had I married right out of college and not taught, I would have had a
different life, but would have missed out on many things and people who
have made my life as it is quite wonderful in many ways.
I wouldn't say that my happiness came from my work per se, just that in
answer to the question "if you could go back (back in time, I assume)
and do it all over, would you teach", I would certainly, knowing wha
teaching has become, give that 'no wife of mine is going to work'
fellow some closer consideration. :)
Of course, for a large part, those were our choices....teach, be a
nurse, be a secretary, or get married and be a stay at home.
